Gyeonggawon Holds Consecutive 'Urban and County Meetings and Agreement Briefings' to Support R&D The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency is holding a meeting with research and development city and county officials on the 23rd at Sono Calm Goyang.

The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency is stepping up efforts to expand support for research and development (R&D).


On the 23rd, the agency held a series of events at Sono Calm Goyang, including a ‘Province-City/County Meeting’ to strengthen R&D support and an ‘Explanation Session for the Gyeonggi-do Technology Development and R&D First Step Support Project Agreement’.


At the Province-City/County Meeting, the agency announced that it will invest 3.55 billion KRW in 36 technology development projects this year. Among these, eight cities/counties?Yongin, Goyang, Namyangju, Paju, Icheon, Pocheon, Yeoju, and Gapyeong?will provide 700 million KRW in support.


The agency also discussed plans to increase the technology development project budget for 2025.


Participants proposed practical measures such as ▲expanding R&D support linked to specialized industries by city/county ▲establishing a joint fund between the province and cities/counties ▲introducing mentoring programs to strengthen R&D capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).


On the same day, the agency held an agreement explanation session for about 100 people, including research directors and operational staff from 46 companies selected for the ‘Gyeonggi-do R&D Support Project’.


Gyeonggi-do is investing 5 billion KRW in 46 newly selected R&D support projects this year.


The agency provided detailed guidance to the selected companies on agreement signing and project management procedures, how to write revised research and development plans, technical consulting, methods for calculating R&D expenses, standards for executing and managing R&D expenses, and how to keep research notes.


Kim Gila, Head of Corporate Growth at the agency, stated, "Through this meeting and explanation session, we have further strengthened the cooperation system among the province, cities/counties, and companies. Moving forward, we will devote all efforts to expanding the R&D support project budget and efficiently managing projects to provide practical assistance for technological innovation and competitiveness enhancement of SMEs in the province."
