Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) has prepared a special gift for children enjoying their summer vacation.

Seo-gu announced on the 23rd that from the 26th to the 28th, water play and festivals for parents and children to enjoy together will be held in Hwajeong 1-dong and Pungam-dong.

On the 27th, a magic concert and Madangnori (traditional Korean outdoor play) for children will take place at Seobitmaru Cultural Center and Seogu Bitgoeul Gugak Training Center.

Hwajeong 1-dong in Seo-gu will hold the "2nd Our Neighborhood Summer Pool-cance" at Gwangju Seo Elementary School playground on the 26th and 27th.

Seo-gu will install large and medium-sized water slides and swimming pools on the school playground and operate programs such as water gun battles, magic performances, and dance time, allowing residents to participate and enjoy together.

Hwajeong 1-dong received favorable reviews last year for planning this event for the first time, providing children with a safe and comfortable play environment and creating a space for coexistence and cooperation between the village and the school by sharing the school playground.

Pungam-dong in Seo-gu will hold the "Special Summer Water Festa" on the 27th and 28th.

This festival will install water slides and swimming pools along Pungam Sinam-ro area (between Jueun Moa Apartment and Sinam Elementary School) and hold water balloon dodgeball, water gun play, DJ pool party, and bubble foam party.

In particular, this space where the festival is held is being developed by Seo-gu as a walkable communication-themed street.

Additionally, on the 27th, the "Most Amazing Magic in the World" performance will be held at Seobitmaru Cultural Center.

Magician Lee Kyungjae, who has gained great popularity through numerous TV appearances and overseas performances, will tell visiting families during the vacation the story of "a boy who does not speak and a magician grandfather who has done magic all his life."

On the 27th, the children's Madangnori performance "I am a Cat" will be held at Seogu Bitgoeul Gugak Training Center.

Based on the story from the world classic literature novel by Natsume Soseki, this performance will convey the importance of family to children through illustrations and animations drawn by the authors themselves, Madangnori, and Gugak musical numbers.

Meanwhile, Seo-gu opened urban water play areas to cool down the heat on the 23rd at Sangmu Citizen Park and Ssanghak Children's Park.

Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, "The kind thoughts of adults who love children have turned the whole village into a water park," and added, "I hope families and neighbors create precious memories through this joyful festival and overcome this summer heat together."
