Various Support Programs for 50 Startups to Be Implemented in the First Half of This Year
Yangsan City, Gyeongnam, has implemented various initiatives over the past six months to support prospective and early-stage startups and to foster an entrepreneurial culture at 'G-Space Dongbu', the youth startup hub in eastern Gyeongnam, which opened in December 2023.
Beginning in March, the city launched the 'Innovative Startup Accelerating Support Program' for 10 startups in the ICT and manufacturing sectors, and recruited five companies for the 'Startup Investment Fund-Linked Accelerating Support Program' in connection with the Next-Generation Regional New Deal & Bio Investment Fund.
Utilizing the network and infrastructure of the capital region's investment attraction hub, the 'Capital Region Investment Bridge' provided investment opportunities to six companies. The 'Support Program for Prospective and Early-Stage Startups' recruited ten companies, offering commercialization grants and customized growth programs, thereby contributing to the growth of startups.
In particular, the support program for prospective and early-stage startups received high interest, with 11 companies applying for five spots in the prospective startup sector and 49 companies applying for five spots in the early-stage sector. The selected companies are expected to lay the foundation for future growth.
Additionally, the 'G-Space Tenant Company Discovery and Nurturing Program', targeting 19 resident companies at G-Space, has been conducting in-depth diagnostic analyses for each company since April. Based on these results, consulting has been underway since June, with efforts focused on strengthening the internal capabilities of these companies.
Alongside these efforts, entrepreneurship education programs have been actively promoted to nurture innovative startup talent. The 'CORN Project', a customer-oriented practical entrepreneurship education, was conducted for 11 students from Dongwon Institute of Science and Technology. The youth entrepreneurship experience program 'Sangsangtium' held its first session on June 27 for 25 sixth-grade students from Yangsan Jungbu Elementary School, contributing to the cultivation of entrepreneurial spirit and the spread of startup culture among youth.
In the second half of the year, Yangsan City plans to recruit six companies for the second round of the 'Capital Region Investment Bridge' and support a total of 40 small businesses and startups in developing online sales channels through the 'Live Commerce Challenge'. The 'G-Space Incubated Companies Networking Day' will also be held, providing participants of the G-Space Dongbu programs with opportunities to exchange business ideas and growth strategies.
A Yangsan City official stated, "We will continue our efforts in the second half of the year to ensure that G-Space Dongbu serves as a catalyst for regional startups," and added, "We ask for the continued interest and participation of startups in our upcoming programs."
