The Visual Information Design Association (VIDAK) is promoting a project to help the descendants of independence activists by utilizing copyright fees generated from the commercialization of design content. To this end, on the 15th, it signed a business agreement with the Heungsadan Independence Activists Descendants Support Headquarters regarding support and exchange for the descendants of independence activists.
The exhibition will be held from the 24th until February 26, 2025, at the exhibition hall within the National University of Uzbekistan in Tashkent. The Uzbekistan International Academic Conference IICCC 2024, co-hosted with the International Culture Technology Promotion Institute (President Kang Jeong-jin), will also be held concurrently. Uzbekistan is the region with the largest population of Koryo-saram, ethnic Koreans forcibly relocated from the former Soviet Union.
Planned as an international exchange exhibition, this event showcases various images symbolizing Korea under the theme "Wearing Korea" with world-renowned artists. It features works by more than 40 design artists from around the world, including "Dwaerangi" artist Choi Gil-soo.
The copyright fees generated from the content have been fully donated annually in the name of VIDAK and the exhibiting artists through the Heungsadan Independence Activists Descendants Support Headquarters, which honors those who contributed to the foundation of today's Republic of Korea, adding greater significance.
Jang Yong-seon, president of the Visual Information Design Association, said, "I am pleased that the profits from content can be used for meaningful causes such as supporting the descendants of independence activists," and added, "The Korea Visual Information Design Association, which values the creation and practice of social value, will continue to strive to strengthen support for the descendants of independence activists."
