The awardees from Suncheon National University are five professors: ▲ Professor Kim Sang-yoon from the Department of Agricultural Life Sciences (Department of Agricultural Chemistry and BK21 IT-Bio Convergence System Graduate Program) ▲ Professor Lee Sang-seok from the Department of Animal Resources Science (both in the field of Agriculture and Fisheries) ▲ Professor Shim Chun-bo from the Department of Artificial Intelligence Engineering ▲ Professor Kim Seong-jin from the Department of Advanced New Materials Engineering ▲ Professor Choi Si-hoon from the Department of Advanced New Materials Engineering (the latter three in the field of Engineering).
Professor Kim Sang-yoon from the Department of Agricultural Life Sciences, College of Life Industry Sciences, published the paper titled ‘Does Co-Application of Compost and Mineral Fertilizers Reduce Gaseous Nitrogen (NH3 and N2O) Losses and Improve Nitrogen Use Efficiency from Maize-Growing Soil’ in the Korean Journal of Soil Science and Fertilizer. This research was conducted with support from the Rural Development Administration and was recommended by the Korean Soil Science and Fertilizer Society.
Professor Lee Sang-seok from the Department of Animal Resources Science, College of Life Industry Sciences, published the paper titled ‘Effects of Organic Mineral Supplementation on Rumen Fermentation in Heat-Stressed Dairy Cows’ in the Journal of Animal Science & Technology, a top 10% SCIE journal in the field of animal husbandry. This research was conducted with support from the Rural Development Administration and was recommended by the Korean Society of Animal Science and Technology.
Professor Shim Chun-bo from the Department of Artificial Intelligence Engineering, College of Engineering, published the paper titled ‘Implementation of a Medication Information Retrieval System through OCR API Performance Comparison’ in the Journal of the Korean Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications. This research was conducted independently in the laboratory and was recommended by the Korean Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications.
Professor Kim Seong-jin from the Department of Advanced New Materials Engineering, College of Engineering, conducts research on the electrochemical corrosion and hydrogen diffusion behavior of metallic materials. Recently, he published the paper titled ‘Effects of Ni-flash Coating Treatment on Hydrogen Generation, Ingress, and Embrittlement Behavior of Ultra-High Strength Steel during Electro-Galvanizing’ and was recommended by the Korean Society of Corrosion Science and Engineering.
Professor Choi Si-hoon from the Department of Advanced New Materials Engineering, College of Engineering, published the paper titled ‘Strain Distribution in the Elliptical Container Head of High-Mn Steel during Multi-Stage Forming Process: Finite Element Analysis’ in the Journal of the Korean Society of Plastic and Processing Engineers. This research was conducted with support from POSCO and was recommended by the Korean Society of Plastic and Processing Engineers.
Meanwhile, the awardees by academic field include 32 in Science, 88 in Engineering, 37 in Agriculture and Fisheries, 59 in Health, and 27 in General fields, totaling 243 recipients. This year’s award ceremony was held on the 11th at the International Conference Room of the Korea Science and Technology Center, hosted and organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT and KOFST, on the last day of the 2nd World Korean Scientists and Engineers Convention.
