Hyundai Mobis Donates Test Vehicles to Universities Training Future Car Experts

Hyundai Mobis announced on the 23rd that it donated 10 educational test vehicles to the Future Electric Vehicle Department at Gyeonggi Science and Technology University. This initiative supports the development of future car talents by recycling outdated test vehicles for university students' practical training.

The vehicles donated by Hyundai Mobis this time include 10 units such as the Hyundai electric vehicle-exclusive model Ioniq EV and the Grandeur Hybrid (HEV). The donation includes not only internal combustion engine vehicles but also electric and hybrid vehicles, aiming to support education and practice with a variety of vehicle types. This is the first time Hyundai Mobis has donated test vehicles to an educational institution.

Test vehicles have high value as educational equipment for courses such as automotive structure studies. The donating company benefits from resource recycling, and the university gains positive effects by providing quality education to students with the donated vehicles. A Hyundai Mobis official explained, "We decided to donate test vehicles with a focus on resource recycling and creating new social value."

Gyeonggi Science and Technology University reorganized its existing Automotive Department into the Future Electric Vehicle Department last year to cultivate talents specialized in the mobility industry. The donated vehicles will be used as research and practical training equipment for students in the Future Electric Vehicle Department. Students are expected to directly disassemble the donated test vehicles to learn about the component structure of internal combustion engine vehicles, the operating principles of high-voltage batteries and drive motors in electric vehicles, and more.

Jo Yoon-deok, Head of Management Support at Hyundai Mobis, said, "As a mobility company, we feel a responsibility to promote the development of the domestic automotive industry," adding, "We will continue to support in various ways to nurture capable future automotive engineers."

Hyundai Mobis supports talent development in the future car field through various methods. Last year, it established a recruitment-linked contract department with Sungkyunkwan University and operates a mobility specialized workforce training program. It also held developer competitions for university software (SW) clubs to foster an environment for mobility software development.
