The American TV animated series 'The Simpsons' has sparked local buzz after an analysis revealed that an episode from as far back as 24 years ago depicted a scene seemingly hinting at Vice President Kamala Harris's presidential bid. Local media, including USA Today, reported on the 22nd (local time) that among The Simpsons fans, there is growing recognition that the Season 11 episode aired in 2000, titled 'Bart to the Future,' contains a prediction suggesting Vice President Harris's bid to become the first female president of the United States.

The episode, which deals with the Simpsons family traveling to the future, includes a storyline where their daughter Lisa Simpson becomes the first female president of the United States in 2030. In particular, fans have responded positively to the fact that Lisa Simpson’s purple jacket and pearl necklace on her inauguration day closely resemble the outfit Vice President Harris actually wore during her 2021 inauguration.

Upon entering the White House, Lisa Simpson introduces herself as "the first heterosexual female president of the United States." She also says, "As you know, we inherited a financial crisis from former President Donald Trump." Although this differs somewhat from the current situation where, if nominated as the Democratic candidate, she would face former President Trump in the November presidential election, social media platforms (SNS) are flooded with comments like "The Simpsons did it again" and "The Simpsons are always right."

Scenario writer Al Jean also responded to fans’ reactions by posting a side-by-side comparison of two images on his X (formerly Twitter) account the day before, stating, "I’m proud to have been part of The Simpsons' 'prediction.'"

The episode had previously become a topic of discussion when former President Trump won the 2016 presidential election. This was due to the line mentioning the financial crisis inherited from Trump when Lisa Simpson became president. Dan Greaney, who wrote the episode, explained in an interview that it was intended as a "warning to America."

The Simpsons have been noted for predicting real-life events before, generating buzz. According to CBS News, episodes aired in the 1990s depicted mobile phones capable of video calls and virtual reality glasses, and also foreshadowed disasters such as the COVID-19 pandemic and submarine accidents. In 2012, they even aired a performance similar to Lady Gaga’s 2017 Super Bowl halftime show.
