Due to heavy rainfall causing the Han River water level to rise, vehicle traffic on the Jamsu Bridge in Seoul was completely restricted starting at 9:37 a.m. on the 23rd. Pedestrian traffic on the Jamsu Bridge was suspended from 8:42 a.m.
According to Seoul City on the 23rd, approximately 3,179 tons of water per second are being discharged into the Han River due to very heavy rain of about 30mm per hour. The Jamsu Bridge suspends pedestrian and vehicle traffic when the water level reaches 5.50m and 6.20m, respectively. Currently, the Han River water level is 6.21m.
Rain will continue until the morning of the 24th in the Seoul metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, and northern Chungcheongbuk-do. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the expected rainfall until the morning of the day is 50 to 120mm in the Seoul metropolitan area (over 150mm in northern Gyeonggi), 30 to 80mm in central and northern inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon (over 120mm in northern inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon), 10 to 60mm in southern inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, 10 to 40mm in northern Chungcheongnam-do, Sejong, and northern Chungcheongbuk-do (over 60mm in northern Chungcheongnam-do), and 5 to 20mm in central and northern coastal areas of Gangwon, Daejeon, southern Chungcheongnam-do, central and southern Chungcheongbuk-do, and northern inland areas of Gyeongbuk.
