Gangbuk-gu will create a large-scale water playground at Songcheon Elementary School playground and Solbat Neighborhood Park, open for free until the 4th of next month. Provided by Gangbuk-gu.
With the peak vacation season underway, various locations in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, are transforming into exciting children's water play areas where families can cool off together.
The district will open large-scale free water play zones from July 26 to August 4 for 10 days: the "Cool~han School Children's Water Playground" at Songcheon Elementary School playground and the "Solbat Neighborhood Park Children's Water Play Shelter" at Solbat Neighborhood Park. Both sites will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (50 minutes of operation followed by 10 minutes of rest) for children aged 12 and under.
The Songcheon Elementary School Children's Water Playground will feature various water play facilities that kids love, including tube slides, air pools, lazy river pools, aqua challenge pools, modular pools, fountain tunnel slides, and play bounces. Additional amenities such as photo zones, air cool zones, rest areas, snack bars, showers, and restrooms will also be available. From Friday to Sunday during the opening period, the district will host abundant performances, play programs, and events. On weekdays, bubble machine events and an open chat room music box will be continuously operated.
At the Solbat Neighborhood Park Children's Water Playground, visitors can enjoy various water activities such as air pools, air slides, and pedal boat pools. There will also be bubble shows, magic shows, and tall clown balloon events. Experience programs like pinecone play, leaf fan making, and water ball crafting will be offered. Facilities for visitors include foot bath zones, air cool zones, rest areas, and changing rooms.
All events allow online advance reservations and same-day first-come, first-served entry. Reservations for the Songcheon Elementary School Children's Water Playground can be made from 7 p.m. the day before, and for the Solbat Neighborhood Park Children's Water Play Shelter from 6 p.m. the day before, via the Gangbuk-gu website. Each person can reserve for up to 5 people (including adults). Tickets can be selected for either the morning session (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) or the afternoon session (2 p.m. to 5 p.m.), and group reservations are not allowed.
The Cool~han School Children's Water Playground allows online reservations for up to 500 people each for the morning and afternoon sessions, with about 200 additional spots available on-site each session on a first-come, first-served basis. The Solbat Neighborhood Park Children's Water Play Shelter accepts up to 150 online reservations per session and allows about 150 on-site entries per session, accommodating approximately 600 visitors daily.
The district has assigned safety management personnel at each facility, operates a medical office, and runs an ambulance service. To maintain clean water quality, water is replaced daily, pool contaminants are removed during each rest period, filters operate continuously, and water quality test results are posted every two hours.
Visitors to the water playground must wear swimsuits and swim caps to use the facilities, and infants must wear waterproof diapers. Due to limited parking space, using public transportation is recommended. For more details, please check the Gangbuk-gu website or contact the Gangbuk-gu Office's Department of Sports and Leisure or the Parks and Greenery Division.
District Mayor Lee Soon-hee stated, "We will do our best to manage water quality and safety so that children can enjoy the facilities safely and comfortably."
