Stock Issuance Amount of 5 Trillion Won in the First Half... Corporate Bond Issuance Scale of 133 Trillion Won

The scale of stock issuance in the first half of the year significantly increased compared to the same period last year, influenced by large initial public offerings (IPOs). The scale of corporate bond issuance recorded an all-time high.

According to the 'Corporate Direct Financing Performance' announced by the Financial Supervisory Service on the 23rd, the amount of stock issuance in the first half was 5.0754 trillion won, an increase of 2.34 trillion won (85.5%) compared to 2.7354 trillion won in the same period last year.

By type, IPOs amounted to 1.5662 trillion won, up 569.3 billion won (57.1%) from 996.9 billion won last year. The IPO market in the first half was booming, with the public offering amount of HD Hyundai Marine Solutions, which went public in May, exceeding 740 billion won. The scale of paid-in capital increase surged by 1.7706 trillion won (101.8%) to 3.5092 trillion won compared to the first half of last year.

The scale of corporate bond issuance was 133.247 trillion won, up 11.4454 trillion won (9.4%) from the same period last year, marking the largest half-year record ever. By type, general corporate bonds amounted to 33.5195 trillion won, an increase of 1.0161 trillion won (3.1%) compared to the same period last year, and financial bonds increased by 10.6937 trillion won (13.1%) to 92.4912 trillion won.

On the other hand, asset-backed securities (ABS) decreased by 264.4 billion won (3.5%) to 7.3083 trillion won. At the end of the first half, the total outstanding corporate bonds amounted to 658.1434 trillion won, up 27.3791 trillion won (4.3%) from 640.7643 trillion won last year. The issuance performance of commercial paper (CP) and short-term bonds was 597.3635 trillion won, down 38.5025 trillion won (6.1%) compared to 635.866 trillion won last year.
