Vice President Kamala Harris, who is likely to emerge as the Democratic Party's new presidential candidate following President Joe Biden's decision not to seek re-election, has officially launched her campaign for the November presidential election.

On the 22nd (local time), Vice President Harris, at a celebration event for the NCAA championship team held in the White House garden, stated, "The achievements Joe Biden has accomplished over the past three years are unparalleled in modern history," adding, "He has already surpassed the accomplishments of most presidents who served two terms with just one term."

She emphasized, "Our President Joe Biden fights for the American people every day," and "We are very grateful for his service to the nation."

Vice President Harris recalled stories about President Biden from his eldest son, Beau Biden, who served as Attorney General of Delaware, while she was Attorney General of California. She said, "The qualities Beau admired in his father are the same qualities I see in our president every day," mentioning "honesty, integrity, faith and dedication to family, a broad heart, and a deep love for our country."

This event marked Vice President Harris's first public appearance since President Biden's decision to withdraw from the presidential race, making her the leading candidate for the Democratic nomination. Earlier, President Biden expressed his support for Vice President Harris as the new presidential candidate, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, senior Democratic lawmakers, and presidential hopefuls have successively joined the support for Vice President Harris.

Vice President Harris is scheduled to visit Wilmington, Delaware, where President Biden's campaign headquarters is located, later that afternoon.
