Gwangjin-gu 'Jayang 1-dong 799 Area' Selected as Seoul Moa Town Target Site

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has been finally selected as a target site for Seoul City's Moa Town project in the area of Jayang 1-dong 799.

Moa Town is a small-scale redevelopment project promoted by Seoul City, which bundles together low-rise residential areas under 100,000㎡ with more than 50% aging to supply quality housing. On the 12th, the city held the '5th Moa Town Target Site Selection Committee of 2024' and selected three autonomous districts including the area of Jayang 1-dong 799 as target sites.

The area of Jayang 1-dong 799 covers a total area of 73,362㎡ divided into five zones. It is densely populated with aging single-family and multi-family houses, with poor infrastructure, and the residents showed a strong willingness to promote the Moa Town project by holding their own briefing sessions.

Accordingly, Gwangjin-gu held resident briefing sessions targeting landowners in the area to collect opinions and then participated in the Seoul City public contest.

As a result, the area of Jayang 1-dong 799 was selected as a Moa Town target site after comprehensive review by the Seoul City selection committee on ▲feasibility of the Moa Housing project ▲whether it is a densely populated semi-basement housing area ▲concerns about resident conflicts, among other factors.

Going forward, Gwangjin-gu plans to actively communicate with Seoul City and continue proactive administrative support to promptly establish a management plan.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We will swiftly promote the Moa Town project in the Jayang-dong area to meet the local residents' desire for low-rise residential development,” and added, “We will also work to preemptively block speculative forces to protect the property rights of original residents.”
