Busan Port Authority Provides Heat Illness Prevention Supplies to Field Workers During Heatwave Season

Cool Arm Sleeves and Sports Towels Distributed to Over 2,400 People

Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Junseok) announced on the 22nd that it has provided heat illness prevention supplies to approximately 2,400 on-site workers at Busan Port in preparation for the hot season, and conducted joint security and safety inspections of major facilities.

Most port workers work outdoors for extended periods without shade, making them highly susceptible to heat-related illnesses, and thorough prevention is crucial.

Accordingly, BPA improves the working environment and provides heat prevention supplies every summer to prevent safety accidents and promote the welfare of on-site workers by supporting sunshades, cooling devices, and more.

This year, BPA distributed items to help prevent heat-related illnesses?such as cooling sleeves, sweat-absorbing helmet liners, and sunshades?to about 2,000 port workers at North Port, New Port, Gamcheon Port, and the International Passenger Terminal.

For approximately 430 security workers of Busan Port Security Corporation, who perform many outdoor tasks such as patrols and guard post duties, BPA provided 1,200 cool towels to help lower body temperature during outdoor work hours.

In addition, BPA conducted a joint inspection with Busan Port Security Corporation on the same day to maintain the security posture of North Port facilities and ensure the safety of security workers.

This inspection focused on security measures to fill security gaps during the summer vacation period and safety measures to protect security workers during the hot season. In particular, air conditioning, outdoor work shift cycles, rest areas, hazardous factors during work, and heat illness prevention measures were thoroughly examined.

Hong Sungjun, Head of BPA Operations Headquarters, stated, "As we enter the peak of the hot season, we are working to create an environment where on-site workers can work safely and healthily," and asked, "We hope everyone will also do their part to prevent security and safety accidents at the site."
