President Yoon Suk-yeol has decided to dispatch a special envoy to the Czech Republic, which secured a new nuclear power plant construction project worth at least 24 trillion won, for follow-up consultations. Building on this successful contract, the plan is to further strengthen the nuclear power ecosystem and focus more on additional exports.

Jung Hye-jeon, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, held a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the afternoon of the 22nd and said, "At today's Chief Secretary meeting, President Yoon instructed related ministries to make every effort to strengthen the nuclear power ecosystem in relation to the Czech nuclear power plant contract," adding, "Regarding this, the dispatch of a special envoy to the Czech Republic by the President is under consideration."

An official from the Presidential Office explained about the dispatch of the special envoy to the Czech Republic, saying, "It is for follow-up consultations related to nuclear power exports," and added, "The Czech nuclear power plant contract is a remarkable achievement after 15 years and holds great significance as it establishes a foothold for exporting our nuclear power technology to Europe."

The official said, "When the preferred bidder was announced, the President also urged everyone to do their best until the final contract with the spirit of 'Team Korea,'" and added, "Since the nuclear power plant contract has injected new vitality into the domestic nuclear industry, the President instructed to make every effort to strengthen the nuclear power ecosystem."

Furthermore, the official added, "This means continuing activities to restore the nuclear power ecosystem, such as the continued operation of existing nuclear plants, resuming construction of new plants like Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4, and developing next-generation nuclear power plants, while making every effort to promote nuclear power exports."

The schedule for dispatching the special envoy to the Czech Republic is currently undecided. Previously, President Yoon secretly dispatched Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Ahn Duk-geun twice to the Czech Republic as a special envoy to secure the Czech nuclear power project contract.

An official from the Presidential Office explained, "Regarding this special envoy dispatch, it has not yet been decided who will go or when they will go."
