Inauguration Ceremony at Ulju County Office on 22nd... Launch of County-wide Movement
On the 22nd, Ulju County in Ulsan held an inauguration ceremony for the ‘KTX-Eum Namchang Station Stop Pan-County Promotion Committee’ at the Alps Hall in the county office.
The Pan-County Promotion Committee was launched to reflect the earnest wishes of 230,000 Ulju residents for the KTX-Eum Namchang Station stop and to promote the construction of a residential city with a population of 100,000 in the southern region.
Previously, since May, the ‘KTX-Eum Namchang Station Stop Joint Promotion Committee,’ which had been promoting the Namchang Station stop mainly among local residents, was expanded into an organization for a pan-county movement. The chairpersons of ten organizations in Ulju County have been appointed as co-chairs of the Pan-County Promotion Committee.
At the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by about 400 people, there were progress reports, presentations on necessity and feasibility, and the reading of a resolution.
Park Soondong, the representative co-chair, stated, “The KTX-Eum Namchang Station stop will be a catalyst for the development of a new city in the southern region of Ulju County and for regional growth,” and added, “Together with the co-chairs, we will ensure the success of the Namchang Station stop.”
Lee Sungul, the governor of Ulju County, said, “The KTX-Eum Namchang Station stop is essential for the future of Ulju,” and continued, “Together with the Pan-County Promotion Committee, we will mobilize all administrative resources to ensure that KTX-Eum stops at Namchang Station.”
Since May, Ulju County has formed and been operating a task force team to attract the KTX-Eum Namchang Station stop. In cooperation with local political circles, they have met with officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korail to deliver a petition urging for the KTX-Eum Namchang Station stop.
In addition, the county sent letters requesting cooperation for the KTX-Eum Namchang Station stop to 406 companies, including small and medium-sized enterprises and resident companies in the Onsan Industrial Complex within Ulju County.
To boost the atmosphere for attracting the KTX-Eum Namchang Station stop, the county is currently collecting pan-county support messages and conducting a policy idea contest to select a promotional slogan. In the private sector, a joint promotion committee has also been formed to attract the KTX-Eum Namchang Station stop, and a signature campaign is underway.
