PCC Appoints Prosecutor Kwon Sook-hyun, Former Fair Trade Commission Official, as New Member

The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office announced on the 22nd that Prosecutor Kwon Suk-hyun (2nd Bar Exam) has been newly appointed following the recommendation of the Personnel Committee and the President's approval.

Prosecutor Kwon previously worked as a lawyer at the law firm Taepyungyang and at the Korea Asset Management Corporation, and is currently serving as an officer at the Fair Trade Commission. Based on experience handling criminal cases at the law firm, he has been recognized for his expertise in Fair Trade Act violations and cartel cases at the Fair Trade Commission.


On the 19th, Kim Myung-seok, Human Rights Investigation Policy Officer (Chief Prosecutor), resigned, leaving the current staff of the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office at a total of 19, including Director Oh Dong-woon, 4 chief prosecutors, and 14 regular prosecutors.


The Office has recommended the appointment of lawyer Lee Jae-seung from the law firm Jipyung as Deputy Director among the 6 vacancies, and recruitment procedures are underway for 4 others, including 1 chief prosecutor and 3 regular prosecutors.


The Office plans to fill the vacancy of 1 chief prosecutor position left open by the resignation of the Human Rights Investigation Policy Officer and the anticipated vacancy of 1 prosecutor currently in the process of resignation at a later date.
