Geochang County Selected as an Excellent Institution for 2023 Gender Impact Assessment Performance

Achieved 100% Policy Improvement Rate in Gender Impact Assessment Project Section

Geochang County in Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 22nd that it has been selected as an excellent institution in the '2024 Gender Impact Assessment' merit category, organized by Gyeongsangnam-do, and received a commendation from the Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do.

The Gender Impact Assessment is a system operated with the aim of realizing substantive gender equality in the region by evaluating and improving the impact of policies on gender and the causes of gender discrimination.

The county has actively promoted gender equality policies and made efforts to effectively conduct gender impact assessments in various fields.

Meanwhile, to ensure the substantial operation of the gender impact assessment system, the county strengthened the linkage between the budget for gender equality promotion and gender impact assessment projects, developed and operated joint gender impact assessment indicators (BS), and established a policy implementation foundation that considers gender equality. The number of gender impact assessments conducted also increased.

In 2022, a total of 69 gender impact assessments were conducted, including laws, projects, and publicity, but in 2023, the number increased by 29 to a total of 98 gender impact assessments.

In addition, improvement plans for gender impact assessments were established and completed for all 17 projects, achieving a 100% policy improvement rate.

Gu Inmo, the mayor of Geochang County, stated, "This achievement is the result of the collective efforts of all Geochang County employees," and added, "We will continue to pursue policies for gender equality to make Geochang a happy place for all residents."

Meanwhile, the county explained that being selected as an excellent institution for gender impact assessment proves that Geochang County's gender equality policies are recognized within Gyeongsangnam-do, and that it will continue to actively implement various policies to realize a gender-equal society.
