A Public Parking Tower to Be Built at Sindang Station in 'Hip Dangdong'

Parking Area Increased Fivefold to 128 Spaces

Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) is constructing a parking tower near Sindang Station on Subway Lines 2 and 6, an area recently known as the trendy "Hipdang-dong," which will accommodate 128 vehicles.

The district announced, "On the 17th, the 'Sindang Station Public Parking Lot Parking Tower Construction' passed Seoul City's investment review, making it possible to secure parking spaces in the Sindang-dong area," adding, "We will utilize the Sindang Station public parking lot site to build a mechanical parking tower and neighborhood living facilities."

The existing flat parking lot at Sindang Station was insufficient to meet the parking demand in the Sindang-dong area due to its small site and only 26 parking spaces. Jung-gu plans to introduce an advanced smart mechanical parking system with real-time parking information and other features to enhance safety and convenience.

The area around Sindang Station is densely populated with multi-family houses and includes five traditional markets?Baekhak Market, Sinjungang Market, Seoul Jungang Market, Hwanghak Market, and others?as well as the recently popular Hipdang-dong, attracting many young people, resulting in high parking demand.

Along with the parking tower, the district plans to create a five-story neighborhood living facility to serve as a community hub for local residents. A design competition for the parking tower will be held in November this year.

Mayor Kim Gil-seong stated, "We expect the construction of the Sindang Station parking tower to relieve the parking difficulties in the Sindang Station area," and added, "We will strive to establish this facility as a new landmark near Sindang Station and as a model case for the effective use of public parking lots."
