On the 22nd, Yang Hyun-suk, YG's general producer, officially confirmed the collaboration with 2NE1 through YG's official YouTube channel and personally introduced the future activity plans. 2NE1 is working again with Yang Hyun-suk about 8 years after leaving YG.

Yang said on YG's YouTube channel, "2NE1 was the first girl group announced by YG that succeeded," and added, "The 2NE1 members expressed to me their desire to hold a concert to celebrate their 15th anniversary."

Earlier, YG announced that on the 27th of last month, Yang Hyun-suk and the four members of 2NE1 held an official meeting at YG's new building in Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, for the first time in about 8 years. The meeting, which sparked fans' curiosity, led to concrete results such as a comeback and a concert.

To celebrate their 15th debut anniversary, 2NE1 will hold concerts starting in early October in Seoul, late November in Osaka, Japan, and early December in Tokyo.

Yang Hyun-suk said, "This performance will be very special. The generation that grew up with 2NE1 and listened to their music is sharing memories. We will work hard with all the staff to create a successful concert."

2NE1 holds a special place in YG. Debuting in 2009, 2NE1 grew into a representative Korean girl group by hitting many songs such as "I Am the Best," "I Don't Care," and "Lonely."

However, after member Gong Min-ji left in 2016, YG announced the disbandment of 2NE1. The group ended their activities with the song "Goodbye," which featured the remaining three members.

In 2021, Gong Min-ji and CL caused a stir by revealing that 2NE1 was forcibly disbanded. They disclosed that the group broke up due to the agency's unilateral announcement of the disbandment, shocking fans. Sandara Park also expressed her regret on a broadcast, saying it was "not easy" at the time of disbandment.

Although group activities ended, the 2NE1 members have maintained a close relationship. They have shown exceptional friendship by meeting on various anniversaries, taking photos, and posting them on social media.

Over time, the members have consistently expressed their willingness to reunite. In fact, they demonstrated their enduring presence by performing their hit song "I Am the Best" (2011) at the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. It was their first performance since declaring the group's disbandment 6 years and 4 months earlier.
