On the 19th, a post titled "Parents making their kids study in a restaurant" was uploaded on an online community. The author, A, who is a self-employed business owner, said, "The place I run has a fast turnover rate. Usually, customers finish their meals and leave within 40 minutes," and added, "But yesterday (the 18th), something absurd happened that I still can't believe."

A explained, "As soon as the dinner service started, a family of four?father, mother, and two children?entered the restaurant," and continued, "This group came in first but stayed much longer than other tables. So, while passing by, I glanced over and saw the eldest child had moved to a neighboring table, listening to online lectures and studying." He further described, "The child was even wearing a headset and reading English aloud alone. It seemed like they were bragging, saying 'I'm studying right now.' At that time, every table was fully occupied. There were customers dining right next to their table."

A added, "The mother, father, and younger child had finished their meals but continued sitting at the table, using their phones, talking, or making calls," and shared his somewhat baffling experience, "Occasionally, the mother would praise the eldest child for studying and even fed them food." He went on, "More customers kept coming in, and I was getting annoyed, wondering whether I should say something or not. In the end, I waited for 1 hour and 45 minutes until the eldest child finished studying. They came in first but were the last to leave when we closed."

What was even more frustrating was that the customers left without cleaning up the table. A said, "When I checked the spot where the eldest child studied, there was a mess of eraser dust or white tape residue," and added, "What made me angrier was that they left with a bright expression, not realizing they had done anything wrong, even saying goodbye, which was unbelievable."

A said, "A restaurant is a place to eat, so I don't understand why they spread out at an empty table and made their child study," and added, "Since this is a neighborhood business in an area with many children, I often encounter parents behaving unexpectedly and beyond common sense, but this case was something else. Please advise me on how to handle this next time."

Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "You should honestly tell the parents," "Maybe they don't have a place to study at home," "That's excessive," "There are all kinds of people," and "Maybe they don't have internet at home." Another netizen, B, who also identified as a self-employed business owner, said, "I sometimes see people studying in the restaurant I run, but when it gets crowded, they stop on their own," and advised, "You need to speak up directly. At first, customers might think 'The owner is being picky,' but when they go home and think about it, they realize their mistake and won't do it again. Adults need to teach children what is right."
