The Jung-gu Council of Seoul (Chairman So Jae-kwon) opened a new chapter by holding the "9th Jung-gu Council Second Half Opening Ceremony" on July 19 at the Jung-gu Residents' Hall Small Auditorium.
The opening ceremony was attended by about 100 people, including Chairman So Jae-kwon, Jung-gu Council members, Kim Gil-seong, Mayor of Jung-gu, Park Seong-jun, National Assembly member, Lee Hye-hoon, Party Committee Chair, Ok Jae-eun, Seoul City Council member, former city and district council members, heads of various local social organizations, neighborhood autonomous committee chairpersons, heads of the Tongjang Association, and figures from various fields, who all graced the event.
Following this, commendation plaques were awarded to 18 exemplary residents who dedicated themselves to the development of district administration and the local community. The newly formed second half council revealed its future operational directions and goals, reaffirming its commitment to continuously evolve, empathize with residents, and implement people-centered governance that earns trust.
In his opening address, Chairman So Jae-kwon stated, "The 9th second half Jung-gu Council will expand opportunities for participation and communication with more local residents to realize resident autonomy in line with the newly changing paradigm of local autonomy."
He also added, "The ongoing discussions in the Seoul City Council regarding the increase and differential distribution of the property tax joint taxation rate threaten the resources and sovereignty of our Jung-gu. The Jung-gu Council is closely monitoring this serious and critical situation and will cooperate and communicate with Jung-gu residents and the Jung-gu Office to overcome this crisis through stable and continuous policy implementation."
Finally, he conveyed, "The ultimate goal and raison d'?tre of the Jung-gu Council is the development of Jung-gu and the welfare enhancement of its residents. We promise to faithfully fulfill our role as the true representative body of Jung-gu residents."
