The mobile voting rate among party members for the ruling People Power Party's leadership election on July 23 reached only 40.47%.
The party's election commission announced that as of 5 p.m. on the 20th, 340,615 out of 841,614 eligible party members participated in the mobile voting. The voting rate on the first day of mobile voting, the previous day, was 29.98%.
This figure is 7.04 percentage points lower than the mobile voting rate (47.51%) during last year's March 8 party convention. At that time, the leadership election recorded the highest turnout in history.
Party members who have voting rights but could not vote via mobile can vote through ARS on the 21st and 22nd. Each voter can cast votes for one candidate for party leader, two candidates for supreme council member, and one candidate for youth supreme council member. A public opinion poll among the general public will also be conducted on the 21st and 22nd.
This party convention reflects 80% of party member votes and 20% of the general public opinion poll. In the party leader election at the convention on the 23rd, if no candidate receives a majority, a runoff vote will be held between the top two candidates.
