Hong Myung-bo, the head coach of the South Korean national football team, met with Tottenham captain Son Heung-min for about an hour to have a one-on-one conversation.

According to the Korea Football Association on the 20th, Coach Hong met Son Heung-min in a location in London, UK, the previous afternoon local time. This was the first time Coach Hong had a meeting with a player since being appointed as the national team coach.

A football association official said, "Hong Myung-bo and Son Heung-min met on the afternoon of the 19th and talked for about an hour," adding, "What they discussed is something Coach Hong will address personally in the future."

Coach Hong, who traveled to Europe to find a foreign coach to assist him, is accompanied by a staff member fluent in English and Spanish. During the meeting with Son Heung-min, he dismissed this staff member and held a private meeting.

After being appointed as the national team coach, Hong said at a press conference held during a K-League match, "It is true that the national team has many good players," and added, "If talent is placed on dedication and sacrifice, it will demonstrate tremendous power, but if it is placed on selfishness, it will not."

On the 20th, he plans to move to Germany to meet Kim Min-jae (Munich) and Lee Jae-sung (Mainz), key players in the national team’s defense and midfield.
