Democratic Party Leader Jeju Primary: Lee Jae-myung Wins by 82%... Jung Bong-ju Tops Supreme Council Member Race (Update)

In the first voting for party members held in Jeju to elect the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, candidate Lee Jae-myung secured first place with over 80% of the votes.

On the 20th, at the first regional tour party leader primary held at Jeju Halla Gymnasium, candidate Lee received 82.5% of the party members' votes, placing him in first. Candidate Kim Doo-kwan received 15.01%, and candidate Kim Ji-soo received 2.49%.


In the Jeju primary for Supreme Council members, the results were as follows: Jeong Bong-ju (19.06%), Jeon Hyun-hee (15.78%), Kim Min-seok (13.18%), Kim Byung-joo (13.08%), Han Jun-ho (12.09%), Lee Eon-ju (12.0%), Kang Seon-woo (7.81%), and Min Hyung-bae (7.01%).

The Democratic Party's election commission conducted an online vote targeting party members in the Jeju region over two days starting the previous day.


The second round of the primary will take place this afternoon in Incheon. The regional tour primaries will be held a total of 15 times and will conclude in Seoul on the 17th of next month.


At the party convention on the 18th of next month, one party leader and five Supreme Council members will be decided by combining 14% of delegate votes (online), 56% of party member votes (online + ARS), and 30% of public opinion polls.
