The image of Donald Trump walking around with gauze taped to his ear after being shot has become a fashion trend. This started when Republican supporters began wearing gauze on their ears to show solidarity with him.

According to U.S. foreign media on the 18th (local time), supporters of former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, attended the convention held on the 17th at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with gauze bandages on their ears. When Trump appeared on the large screen inside the convention hall, party members enthusiastically cheered. Republican delegates and members also attended with gauze on their right ears. Not only gauze but also white band-aids, neatly folded paper, and tape?anything white?were stuck to their ears.

Among them, Joe Neglia, a Republican delegate from Arizona, said, "On the bus coming here to Wisconsin, I folded an envelope and wore it on my right ear. This ear bandage is a sign of our love, care, and concern for him," adding, "This is the latest fashion trend. Soon, everyone around the world will be wearing this gauze." Another delegate emphasized, "If someone needs a cast, we will wear a cast. We support Trump 100%."

This trend spread even to the public. Conservative radio hosts posted photos of themselves with gauze on their ears on social media and advertised that they were selling patches online as merchandise. Foreign media analyzed that this behavior by supporters is a "symbolic gesture" to show support and solidarity with former President Trump.

Earlier, on the 13th at around 6:15 PM, former President Trump was speaking at a campaign event in Pennsylvania when a bullet fired by an assassin grazed his right ear, causing an injury. Despite bleeding from his ear and cheek immediately after being shot, he clenched his fist and shouted "Fight," demonstrating composure and resilience. One supporter attending the rally lost their life, two were seriously injured, and the sniper was shot dead at the scene.

In subsequent presidential polls, Trump surged ahead of President Joe Biden by a larger margin. Even Democratic leadership is demanding that President Biden withdraw from the race, but Vice President Kamala Harris, a strong alternative candidate, is also trailing behind former President Trump.
