Donald Trump, the former U.S. president and Republican presidential candidate, conveyed to Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, that he intends to end the Ukraine war if he wins re-election.
On the 19th (local time), former President Trump revealed on his social media that he had a phone call with President Zelensky that day. He stated, "He (President Zelensky) congratulated me on becoming the Republican presidential candidate and successfully holding the convention."
Former President Trump said, "(President Zelensky) condemned the vicious assassination attempt last Saturday and mentioned the unity of Americans in the spirit of solidarity during such times."
He added, "I appreciate President Zelensky reaching out. As your next U.S. president, I will bring peace to the world and end the war that has destroyed many lives and countless innocent families."
He also said, "Both sides (Ukraine and Russia) will be able to end the violence together and negotiate an agreement toward prosperity."
President Zelensky also announced the phone call with former President Trump through a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account that day. President Zelensky congratulated former President Trump on his nomination, condemned the shocking assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, and wished for his safety.
