Seoul National University College of Medicine announced on the 20th that it has been selected for the overseas-linked sector of the Global Data Convergence Leader Training Project supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The overseas-linked sector of the Global Data Convergence Leader Training Project is a program that conducts global joint research projects with overseas universities and trains global talents who will lead data-driven decision-making and business innovation across organizations.
From this year until 2029, Seoul National University College of Medicine will establish a global medical data convergence curriculum certification course (master's program) targeting students in the interdisciplinary medical informatics major at Seoul National University Graduate School. In collaboration with Seoul National University Hospital, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, National University of Singapore, Massachusetts General Brigham Hospital, and Amazon Web Services, it plans to conduct global joint research.
Students participating in the program are expected to cultivate various practical skills to grow into global experts in the medical artificial intelligence field, acquiring core knowledge for medical data convergence such as medicine and data science, as well as AI ethics, AI policy, regulatory science, and entrepreneurship.
Professor Lee Kyu-eon of the Department of Surgery at the College of Medicine said, “Through this project, we will nurture global-level medical data convergence talents, which will further enhance the international competitiveness of Korea’s medical sector. We will do our best to train leaders who lead medical data-based business decision-making and innovation through broad cooperation with prestigious overseas universities.”
