Plogging means 'jogging while picking up trash' and is an environmental protection activity aimed at encouraging participation in environmental action. About 50 people participated in this activity, including ERT member companies from the Jeju region, member companies of the environmental campaign platform 'Gaplejiu', and attendees of the KCCI Jeju Forum.
Before starting the plogging, Yang Moon-seok, Chairman of Jeju Chamber of Commerce, said in his greeting, "Today’s event is a great opportunity to promote eco-friendly management practices of businesspeople both domestically and internationally," adding, "I hope this plogging event will lead to continuous interest in the environment and various related activities."
Additionally, during the Jeju Forum, KCCI placed dedicated PET bottle collection bins throughout the venue and collected the disposed PET bottles through the Gaplejiu platform. The collected PET bottles undergo recycling processes and are used as eco-friendly recycled raw materials. Furthermore, leveraging this event, plans are underway to expand collaborative projects with Gaplejiu, including PET bottle collection at ERT member company offices and participation in marine environment cleanup activities.
Park Il-jun, Executive Vice Chairman of KCCI, stated, "For the sustainability and expansion of entrepreneurial spirit activities, joint efforts and practical actions from the economic sector are crucial," and added, "We plan to develop various programs that can be practiced together by companies ranging from large corporations to local SMEs, supporting the spread of corporate environmental practices."
