The ESG Center aims to create jobs for seniors and produce upcycled products through plastic resource circulation. Through the senior employment project, plastics will be collected, washed, and sorted locally, then converted into raw materials (yarn and fabric production), followed by upcycling to produce and sell new products.
Profits will be used for creating jobs for local seniors, youth, and women with career interruptions, as well as for center operations. In a small space within the center, ESG forums and environmental education for residents will also be conducted.
Lee Young-hoon, Mayor of Michuhol-gu, said, "This project will create new jobs for seniors and contribute to solving environmental issues in the local community."
Attending the signing ceremony were Choi Young-kwang, Head of Communications Division at Lotte Chemical; Lee Young-hoon, Mayor of Michuhol-gu; Kim Mi-gon, Director of the Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute; and Lee Soo-min, Director of Michuhol Senior Club.
