Gyeonggi Province is revamping the Crisis Pregnant Women Safety Consultation Hotline to also provide phone and in-person consultations.
On the 19th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it has reorganized the "Crisis Pregnant Women Safety Consultation Hotline (010-4257-7722 or 1308 without area code)," which offers childbirth, parenting, and protection counseling to pregnant women struggling with unexpected pregnancy and childbirth, into the "Crisis Pregnant Women Regional Consultation Center," and will provide both phone and in-person consultations.
Gyeonggi Province previously established the "Special Act on Support for Crisis Pregnancy and Protective Childbirth and Child Protection (Crisis Pregnancy Protective Childbirth Act)," which came into effect on the same day.
Last October, Gyeonggi Province launched the "Crisis Pregnant Women Safety Consultation Hotline," operating 24/7 throughout the year, offering ▲ pregnancy and childbirth-related counseling ▲ support for childcare and parenting supplies ▲ linkage to childcare services and protection (housing) support ▲ legal and medical support linkage ▲ educational support (alternative schools) ▲ and child protection systems when direct parenting is unavoidable.
The newly reorganized "Crisis Pregnant Women Regional Consultation Center" has been established at "Aureum" in Gwangmyeong, a single-parent family welfare facility that previously operated the hotline. After phone consultations through the hotline, pregnant women can also receive in-person consultations for more detailed support.
Since Gyeonggi Province proactively operated the hotline to support crisis pregnant women ahead of other regions, it plans to add one more "Crisis Pregnant Women Regional Consultation Center" next year.
Ahn Seung-man, Director of the Family Policy Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Among crisis pregnant women who gave birth, some initially considered adoption but decided to raise their children after continuous counseling, reflecting a change in perception. Since we implemented this ahead of the national government, we will gradually expand and promote the operation of regional consultation centers unique to Gyeonggi Province, carefully ensuring that crisis pregnant women can always feel safe and receive counseling."
