20 Resident-Priority Parking Spaces Created Using Surplus Land in Mullae-dong... Operation Starts July 15
Securing Parking Spaces and Improving Residential Environment... Landowners Exempt from Property Tax or Receive Parking Revenue... Three Surplus Land Parking Lots with 53 Spaces Completed This Year to Alleviate Parking Shortage
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will create and start operating 20 resident-priority parking spaces using leftover land to alleviate parking difficulties in the dense area of small machine metal factories in Mullae-dong.
Parking lots utilizing idle land and leftover spaces have the advantage of being efficiently established at low cost and within a short period, unlike large-scale public parking lots that require securing land and investing significant time and money. In particular, by tidying up neglected idle land, it is expected to improve the urban landscape as well.
Additionally, through the creation of parking lots, residents can use the parking spaces at affordable costs, and owners of leftover land can receive various benefits such as exemption from property tax or operational income worth about 40,000 KRW per month per parking space. If you wish to provide idle land for parking lot creation, you can contact the District Office’s Parking Culture Division for detailed guidance.
The newly established parking lot is located in the vacant land area including Mullae-dong 1-ga 129-1 and four other parcels, which had been neglected idle space until now. Through this project, the district secured 20 parking spaces by creating a resident-priority parking lot with an area of approximately 876㎡, and operation began on July 15. However, only authorized vehicles can park in the resident-priority parking lot, so residents who wish to use it should contact and apply through the Yeongdeungpo-gu Facilities Management Corporation.
To overcome spatial and financial limitations in parking lot construction, the district continues to promote projects that utilize leftover land in residential areas for parking lots. This year, the district created leftover land parking lots in three locations: Mullae-dong, Yeongdeungpo-dong 8-ga 65, and Daerim-dong 976-25, securing a total of 53 parking spaces to alleviate residents’ inconvenience.
Meanwhile, to solve the chronic parking shortage problem in the city center, the district is holding an idea contest for expanding parking lots until July 31, offering a prize of up to 1 million KRW depending on the results, actively encouraging citizens to come up with innovative ideas for parking lot expansion.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “I hope the leftover land parking lots will help alleviate residents’ daily inconveniences,” and added, “We will continue to discover various projects to secure parking spaces and do our best to enhance the convenience of our residents.”
