Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that the 'Resident Communication On-site Tongtong (通通)' program, which was conducted for about four weeks starting from the 24th of last month, concluded on the 18th with a visit to Cheongnyangni-dong.

Marking the 2nd anniversary of the 8th elected term, District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung visited 14 neighborhoods in sequence to inspect key public livelihood sites and gather various opinions. The 'Resident Communication On-site Tongtong (通通)' was organized to reflect the proposed opinions in district administration, resolve daily inconveniences, and create changes that residents can feel.

This on-site Tongtong focused on 'field visits' to major facilities in each neighborhood, such as senior centers, daycare centers, alleyway commercial districts, and religious organizations, to check conditions and understand residents' thoughts and daily inconveniences.

Despite the rainy season and heatwave, Mayor Lee traveled on foot to 6 to 7 locations daily, continuing communication even on the streets. He visited vocational rehabilitation facilities for the disabled to consider providing stable jobs for people with disabilities, encouraged merchants in alleyway commercial districts, and guided students commuting to school.

On the 18th, when heavy rain fell, he visited Cheongnyangni-dong, the last destination, listened to the opinions of the elderly at two senior centers, and then moved to the traditional market. Despite the bad weather, traditional market merchants welcomed Mayor Lee and requested active efforts to revitalize the market.

Afterwards, Mayor Lee spoke with residents participating in various programs at the Informatization Library and expressed gratitude to school security guards who were working in front of Samyuk Elementary School to ensure students' safety despite the pouring rain.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “Communicating with numerous residents has given me the strength to operate district administration more passionately for the remainder of my term,” and added, “I will continue to create opportunities for natural communication with residents to envision a bright future for Dongdaemun-gu that the residents desire.”
