Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is visiting the flooded site of the Segyo Underpass in Pyeongtaek and talking with on-site personnel.
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon visited the submerged Segyo Underpass in Segyo-dong, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, on the 18th to check the restoration status and encourage the officials involved.
According to Gyeonggi Province, Pyeongtaek City experienced heavy rainfall, recording an average cumulative precipitation of 67.76mm from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. that day.
The Gyeonggi Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and Pyeongtaek City issued an emergency evacuation order to residents of Tongbok-dong 6th and 7th districts that morning and controlled the Wonpyeong Noeul Underpass, Segyo Underpass, Eunsil Underpass, Seojeong Underpass, and Vision Underpass. Due to the prompt control measures, no casualties occurred in these areas.
Meanwhile, the restoration site was equipped with the ‘Multi-Joint Unmanned Water Pump Truck’ introduced earlier this year. This vehicle can be remotely operated from outside the vehicle and, although it is also deployed in Jeollanam-do, the model introduced in Gyeonggi Province is the nation’s first with fully upgraded pumps and arm length.
The equipment features a long arm and uses a gear pump to shoot water at ultra-high pressure over long distances. At the flooded site, the large-capacity pump mounted on the truck can be hung on the long arm and submerged underwater to pump out water. Gyeonggi Province plans to introduce one more Multi-Joint Unmanned Water Pump Truck early next year.
