Gyeonggi Province Spokesperson Kang Min-seok: "Governor Kim Dong-yeon to Enact Ordinance Following Two Years of Cooperative Spirit with Provincial Assembly"
The Secretary Office and advisory bodies of the Governor of Gyeonggi Province will be subject to administrative audits by the Gyeonggi Provincial Council starting this year.
Kang Min-seok, spokesperson for Gyeonggi Province, stated in a written briefing on the 18th, "Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province promulgated the ‘Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on the Formation and Operation of Committees of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council’ this evening."
The ordinance includes provisions to conduct administrative audits of the Governor’s Secretary Office and advisory bodies starting from November this year.
Gyeonggi Province initially opposed the ordinance strongly, citing that it was unprecedented, involved unreasonable overlapping audits, and raised concerns about political conflicts involving current and former governors.
Spokesperson Kang Min-seok added, "Nevertheless, Governor Kim Dong-yeon stated, ‘Over the past two years, I have led the provincial government in the spirit of cooperation. Although there are unreasonable aspects to this ordinance, since it was passed by consensus between the ruling and opposition parties, I will not request reconsideration and will promulgate it magnanimously.’"
