The UK Office for National Statistics (ONS) announced on the 18th (local time) that the unemployment rate from March to May this year was recorded at 4.4%. This was the same as the previous unemployment rate of 4.4% and matched market expectations.
The UK defines the unemployment rate as the ratio of unemployed people to the economically active population. Here, unemployed individuals refer to those who have actively sought employment in the past four weeks and are able to start work within the next two weeks.
