Crime Prevention and Traffic Accident Handling, Community Policing Awareness
Daegu Jungbu Police Station announced on the 17th that it held the 9th Citizen Police Academy graduation ceremony in the auditorium on the 7th floor and produced 20 new citizen police officers.
This Citizen Police Academy was held for five days starting from the 11th and is an educational program where local residents learn about and experience police work. Through this training, participants were given the opportunity to recognize the importance of community policing through crime prevention, multicultural understanding, traffic accident handling, and emergency aid.
Since launching its first class in 2001, Daegu Jungbu Police Station has produced a total of 237 citizen police officers across nine classes over the past 23 years. Citizen police officers have played a role as public safety assistants by participating in patrols and campaigns for crime prevention in Jung-gu, maintaining order at large-scale events such as the Dongseongno Festival, and engaging in various volunteer activities.
Kim Gidae, chief of Daegu Jungbu Police Station, said, "Citizen police officers have significant meaning in crime prevention activities, and I hope that building trust with residents and community policing will become even more active."
