Chairperson Choi Hojung Meets with Delegation of German Federal Parliament Members

Chairperson Choi Ho-jeong of the Seoul Metropolitan Council met with a delegation including Ronja Kemmer, a member of the German Bundestag, on the 17th to discuss ways to expand exchanges between Seoul and Germany.

Also present at the meeting were Kim In-je, Deputy Chairperson of the Democratic Party of Korea, Seong Heum-je, Representative Member of the Democratic Party of Korea, Lee Kyung-sook, Senior Deputy Floor Leader of the People Power Party, and members Lee Min-seok and Lee Hyo-won.

The delegation, visiting Korea through the Konrad Adenauer Foundation of Germany, came to the Seoul Metropolitan Council to pay a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Chairperson Choi Ho-jeong and to benchmark Seoul's digital policies.

Ronja Kemmer, a member of the German Bundestag's Digital Committee, is known to have a strong interest in providing social care services through digital policies.

Chairperson Choi Ho-jeong stated, “Since the visit of the Baden-W?rttemberg state parliament delegation from Germany last year, the Seoul Metropolitan Council has been actively promoting not only policy exchanges but also human exchanges with Germany. Seoul’s digital policies are a leading area, and there is much to share with each other.”

In this regard, in April, a delegation from the German Federal Government's Transport and Energy sector visited the Seoul Metropolitan Council, and in May, the Seoul Metropolitan Council’s Transportation Committee made a goodwill visit to the Baden-W?rttemberg state parliament.

Ronja Kemmer said, “Many of South Korea’s policies as a digital powerhouse are well known in Germany. I would like to have in-depth discussions on Seoul’s digital technology, demographic changes, immigration, and innovation.”

The delegation arrived on the 15th and visited the National Assembly, the German Embassy in Korea, and other sites to deepen mutual understanding between Korea and Germany.
