Drone Education Program for Middle-aged Residents in Gwangjin-gu Starting August... Two Sessions in Total
Held Every Weekend at Northern Technical Training Center... Basic Theory, Flight Practice, and Certification Preparation
Recruiting Participants for First Session Until August 9, Applications Available on Training Center Website
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is operating the "Gwangjin-gu Senior Drone Education Program" for the elderly in the region in response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.
In a society rapidly changing into the digital age, it is essential for seniors to design a new life through self-development. Accordingly, the district has decided to provide drone education services for seniors in cooperation with the Seoul Northern Technical Education Institute.
The drone education is divided into two sessions. The first session will be held every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) from August 17 to September 8. Participants will receive specialized training including ▲ basic drone theory and flight practice ▲ drone video shooting and editing ▲ support for obtaining four types of drone certifications.
The education will take place at the New Lab Innovation Technology Education Center of the Seoul Northern Technical Education Institute, equipped with digital education systems such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Through the center’s state-of-the-art 3D multimedia system, it is expected that various drone skills can be acquired in a short period.
Applications for 20 participants for the first session will be accepted on the Seoul Northern Technical Education Institute’s website until August 9. Any senior resident of Gwangjin-gu (born between 1960 and 1974) can apply for the drone education, and final students will be selected through interviews after the application deadline.
Recruitment for the second session will be announced on the Northern Technical Education Institute’s website in September.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We have prepared the drone education program together with the Northern Technical Education Institute to help seniors adapt well to the rapidly changing times,” adding, “Gwangjin-gu will continue to discover and operate various support programs to help seniors design their second act in life.”
In addition to drone education, Gwangjin-gu is actively supporting seniors’ digital capabilities and employment activities by planning a “Senior Chat GPT” education program in the second half of the year.
