Gangjin-gun Launches Full-Scale Development of Food Town with Baek Jong-won

Thebon Korea Official Visits Gangjin-eup Market and Ogamtong to Detail Business Plans

Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do, which was selected last month for the 11 billion KRW-scale ‘2024 Public-Private Cooperation Regional Win-Win Contest Project,’ has officially begun to concretize the Gangjin Food Town Development Project.

According to the county on the 18th, since signing a business agreement for regional economic revitalization and win-win development last September, Gangjin-gun and Theborn Korea held a meeting on this day to embark on the full-scale project.

In particular, to specify the direction for revitalizing Gangjin Food Town, representatives from Theborn Korea’s regional development project team carefully toured Gangjin-eup Market, Ogamtong, and surrounding stores to conduct preliminary on-site assessments for CEO Baek Jong-won’s blueprint for Gangjin’s development, listen to opinions from local small business owners, and discuss design directions, accelerating the previously stalled project promotion.

After the site visit, the direction for revitalizing Gangjin-eup Market was specified as follows: dismantling the aging exterior walls of Susan-dong, creating outdoor dining spaces on parking lot sites, enabling outdoor dining after purchasing food in Susan-dong, and installing rain shelters from Susan-dong to the parking lot to allow year-round use of dining spaces regardless of weather.

Additionally, to revitalize the Ogamtong Food Market and outdoor stage, plans include remodeling the food market within Ogamtong, recruiting entrepreneurs after remodeling, consulting by CEO Baek Jong-won, developing and providing Gangjin-specialized menus, and creating an outdoor dining space where food and performances can be enjoyed simultaneously through the construction of a terrace at the Ogamtong Food Market and maintenance of the outdoor plaza.

Furthermore, the project promotion plan will be further detailed through discussions with Gangjin-gun Governor Gang Jin-won and market officials during CEO Baek Jong-won’s future visit to Gangjin-gun.

Governor Gang Jin-won stated, “Theborn Korea officials are moving swiftly to concretize the project by actively engaging in the environmental maintenance of Gangjin-eup Market and Ogamtong Food Town,” adding, “We will prepare without any setbacks to revitalize the entire Gangjin-eup commercial district, increase income for small business owners and self-employed individuals, and create a representative success case to overcome the crisis of local extinction through increased tourist visits and resident population.”
