On the 18th, during a policy coordination meeting held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, Acting Leader Park said, "The People Power Party’s leadership election has become an illegal expos? event," adding, "The candidates’ mutual accusations resemble watching a third-rate melodrama." He also stated, "There have been violent incidents among supporters, as well as revelations of illegal acts beyond mere slander."
He continued, "There were disclosures about Kim Geon-hee’s comment team and Han Dong-hoon, former emergency committee member of the People Power Party, having a polling team, and just the day before, there was an allegation that candidate Na Kyung-won requested the dismissal of prosecution related to her Fast-Track case," adding, "If true, these are all serious criminal acts that cannot be overlooked."
He further said, "Since they are testifying to criminal acts side by side, I hope they will also undergo investigations properly side by side," emphasizing, "Those who aspire to become party leaders would not have fabricated these stories, so the substantive truth must be clarified through investigation, and if illegalities are revealed, strict judicial action must be taken."
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party is expected to focus its efforts on the impeachment petition hearing against President Yoon Seok-yeol. Acting Leader Park said, "More than 1.4 million citizens have agreed to the impeachment petition, and that weight is by no means light," adding, "Baseless claims that the impeachment petition hearing is unconstitutional or illegal are not worth mentioning."
He also stated, "Jung Jin-seok, Chief Secretary of the Presidential Office, Lee Won-seok, Prosecutor General, Kim Geon-hee, and Choi Eun-soon, Kim’s mother, who have been summoned as witnesses by the National Assembly’s Legislation and Judiciary Committee, must appear before the National Assembly," warning, "If any witness refuses to attend the hearing, we will strictly respond according to the law."
