For Professors Under 40 Employed at Domestic Universities
Ecopro announced on the 18th that it is recruiting candidates for the 'Ecopro Young Scientist Awards' (EYSA), created to discover and support young scientists in the energy and environmental fields.
Now in its second year, the Ecopro Young Scientist Awards are expected to serve as a bridge between advanced materials research in industrial sites and universities, while motivating young professors in their research efforts.
Eligibility requirements for candidates include being under 40 years old (born after July 1, 1984) and currently conducting research at a domestic university as either a Korean or foreign professor, with at least five SCI-E (Science Citation Index Expanded) level papers published in the last five years.
Last year, candidates were nominated by others, but this year the application process has changed to self-application. This is expected to encourage more candidates to apply. The application period is from July 15 to September 13.
Ecopro will announce the winners in November after evaluations by internal and external experts based on publication records and other criteria, and will hold an awards ceremony in December. One winner will be selected in each of the energy and environmental fields, with prize money of 20 million KRW each.
The application form can be downloaded from the Ecopro website and submitted via email.
At last year’s first Young Scientist Awards ceremony, Seungho Yoo, a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Korea University, was recognized as the energy field winner for his research on next-generation energy storage materials and improving the energy density of cathode materials. In the environmental field, Jeyoung Park, a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Sogang University, was honored for his work on eco-friendly bio-plastic materials.
An Ecopro representative stated, "As technology in the energy and environmental fields is crucial for global environmental preservation, we will continue to discover and support young scientists who achieve meaningful results through innovative research."
