On the 18th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the 7th donation relay ceremony in the mayor's reception room for a program aimed at restoring the functions of families of abused children.
On this day, the 7th donor in the relay, the International Lions Club District 355-C (Gyeongnam Central), donated 15 million KRW. The donation will be used for home care services for neglected families and for operating a learning mentoring support program.
The donation relay, "Even a Scratch from a Petal Leaves a Scar," which began last year, continues as donors contribute at least 1 million KRW and either nominate the next participant or voluntarily donate. Up to the 6th round, about 30 million KRW has been collected.
The donations have been used to run a variety of customized programs focused on strengthening family bonds and preventing re-abuse through environmental changes.
More than 130 abused children and their families have received support such as psychological counseling and therapy, family experience activities, overnight family trips, family photo sessions, winter vacation activities, school bag support for new students, and study room environment improvements.
Former Governor Kim Yanggeun said, "Every child has the right to grow up safely and happily, and our local community must play a responsible role for the safety and happiness of children. I will continue to fulfill the role of an adult for the children in the future."
Changwon Special City Mayor Hong Nampyo stated, "I would like to express my gratitude for the ongoing donations as our community comes together as one. Changwon Special City will continue to strive so that children with infinite potential can grow up safely and happily."
