Superintendent Ha Yoonsoo Issues Special Directive for Comprehensive Review of Grades and Evaluations
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yoonsoo) has conducted a comprehensive inspection regarding academic grades and evaluations at all high schools, and has launched a special audit on School A, which caused controversy, starting from the 18th.
This audit follows Superintendent Ha Yoonsoo's directive to thoroughly inspect the overall academic grading and evaluation processes, and to swiftly and strictly conduct a special audit on School A regarding the circumstances of the incident and the school's response and handling procedures.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is auditing School A on all aspects related to the 2024 evaluation, including the circumstances that led to the retest and the appropriateness of the school's response, whether the teacher intentionally leaked questions or engaged in misconduct, confirmation of any additional reuse of previous exam questions, and the principal's overall management of the curriculum.
The Office of Audit and Inspection will take strict measures not only against the teacher in question but also against responsible school administrators and related staff, depending on the audit results, and will also review measures to prevent recurrence.
This special audit will involve multiple officials, including audit officers and supervisors with expertise in evaluation, to ensure the objectivity and professionalism of the audit.
Ha Yoonsoo, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "Evaluation in schools must be managed objectively and fairly, and I deeply regret that such an incident has occurred," and promised, "We will strive not only to manage grades and evaluations at all schools objectively and fairly, but also to establish measures to prevent recurrence in the future."
