President Yoon Suk-yeol nominated Professor Yoo Sang-im of Seoul National University as the candidate for Minister of Science and ICT on the 18th.
Jung Jin-seok, Chief Secretary of the Presidential Office, announced this during a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the same day.
In his remarks on the nomination, Professor Yoo responded to a reporter's question about research and development (R&D) by saying, "R&D requires selection and concentration," adding, "I plan to utilize smooth communication functions to identify what R&D budgets are truly necessary and to work through appropriateness with members of each affiliated institution."
