County Governor Jin Byeongyeong is promoting Hamyang wild ginseng at the "2024 Excellent Wild Ginseng Exhibition" hosted by the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute.
As the main production area of wild ginseng in Korea and a leader in the anti-aging wild ginseng industry, Hamyang County participated with eight wild ginseng roots from four forestry households and seven products from two processing companies. Governor Jin Byungyeong also attended the exhibition on the 17th to highlight the excellence of Hamyang wild ginseng and its processed products.
In particular, the county has taken the lead in improving quality by introducing the nation's first production history system for cultivating excellent wild ginseng, setting the production area standard at an altitude of over 500 meters to encourage cultivation under the most natural conditions, and carrying out activities to protect wild ginseng from cultivation to distribution so that consumers can trust and enjoy the products.
This exhibition not only showcased excellent wild ginseng from across the country but also featured a talk concert on "The Past, Present, and Future of Wild Ginseng," a special lecture on "The Value of Wild Ginseng," a commemorative ceremony, an auction event, and a tasting event for processed products.
The exhibited aged wild ginseng was partially sold through auction, and the proceeds were donated to cover medical expenses for special wildfire response team members injured during wildfire suppression. Reflecting this purpose, the exhibition was themed "The Secret of the Forest, Sharing Affection."
Governor Jin, who participated in the exhibition, stated, "I hope today's exhibition becomes a place where the hard work and dedication of forestry workers, who have climbed mountains day in and day out, are recognized and shine." He added, "I also hope this event will further elevate the status of Korean wild ginseng and serve as a valuable opportunity for our wild ginseng and processed products to reach the global market."
Meanwhile, the county plans to hold the 19th Hamyang Wild Ginseng Festival under the theme "Falling in Love with Hamyang, Falling in Love with Wild Ginseng" at the Millennium Forest Sangnim Park from October 3 to 9.
