Gyeonggi Province has raised the emergency response level of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters from Level 1 to Level 3 as of 8:30 a.m. on the 18th, following the issuance of heavy rain warnings across the entire province due to concentrated heavy rainfall.


This is the first activation of Level 3 emergency response this year.


With the upgrade to Level 3, the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters will be managed by the Director of the Safety Management Office as the controller of the heavy rain situation, and the First Deputy Governor will oversee overall management.


In the province's 31 cities and counties, 4,245 personnel have been deployed for emergency duty. Currently, landslide warnings have been issued in five cities and counties including Paju, Pocheon, Yeoncheon, Yangju, and Dongducheon, while landslide advisories are in effect in eight cities and counties including Namyangju, Uijeongbu, Hanam, Guri, Gapyeong, Gimpo, Goyang, and Yeoncheon.


Additionally, flood warnings have been issued for Osancheon Tapdong Bridge in Osan, Songcheon Bridge in Dongducheon, and Manjang Bridge in Paju, while flood advisories have been issued for Sarang Bridge, Chatan Bridge, and Sincheon Bridge in Yeoncheon County, Eunhyeon Bridge and Pocheon Bridge in Pocheon City, and Daebo Bridge in Gapyeong County.


There have been no casualties, but 118 households comprising 233 people in nine cities and counties including Gimpo, Paju, Yangpyeong, Yangju, Dongducheon, Gapyeong, Uijeongbu, Yeoncheon, and Hanam have been urgently evacuated.


There have been 56 cases of house flooding, 164 cases of road flooding, and 15 cases of damage from soil and rockfalls. Roads and underpasses at 37 locations, 5,371 riverside areas, 33 floodplain parking lots, 62 low-water bridges, and 83 valleys, recreational areas, and hiking trails have been closed.


Meanwhile, from midnight on the 16th to 7 a.m. on the same day, the highest accumulated rainfall was recorded in Paju at 577.6 mm, followed by Yeoncheon at 472.0 mm and Dongducheon at 405.0 mm. The maximum hourly rainfall was recorded in Uijeongbu at 103.5 mm.
