Heechang Trading Hosts Export Consultation Meeting
Promotional Event Planned in Canada for Q4 This Year
Sancheong County in Gyeongnam is making every effort to pioneer new sales channels so that its excellent agricultural and specialty products can be found not only in Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East, but now also in Canada.
According to Sancheong County on the 18th, an export consultation meeting was held on the 17th at the Future Life Hall of the Sancheong County Agricultural Technology Center to develop sales channels in Canada. Sancheong County had previously organized 688 products from 198 companies registered on the San&Cheong online mall by town and discussed them with Heechangmulsan.
Among these products, 70 items from 15 companies were selected for detailed export consultations at this meeting. Based on the results of this consultation, the county plans to hold its first-ever promotional event in Canada in the fourth quarter of 2024.
This consultation meeting is the result of the county's aggressive efforts to develop export markets. So far, the county has pioneered sales channels in the Americas, such as Los Angeles and Guam, as well as in Asia, including Hong Kong, Singapore, and Vietnam, and even in the Middle East in Dubai, promoting its top-quality agricultural and specialty products overseas.
Thanks to these efforts, the county achieved a record-high export amount of $11.706 million last year from agricultural and specialty products, fresh foods, livestock products, and forest products. This result reflects the county's relentless attempts to open new overseas markets.
To expand export channels for agricultural and specialty products, Sancheong County launched aggressive marketing initiatives in 2024, starting with exports worth 120 million KRW to HIKALEE in Japan, followed by Janghee exports to Guam in the Americas in March, and successfully completing a promotional event in Northern California, USA, in May.
The county is also actively supporting export companies to develop new markets by participating in international food exhibitions in Tokyo and Shanghai.
A county official said, "We will do our best to achieve great results at this export consultation meeting and introduce Sancheong's excellent agricultural and specialty products locally in Canada for the first time," adding, "We will continue our efforts to widely promote Sancheong County's agricultural and specialty products through strategic development of new overseas markets and diversification of export products."
Meanwhile, the county plans to participate in a promotional event in Northern California, USA, the LA Korean Festival Agro-Fisheries Expo, and a promotional event in Australia in the second half of the year, and is also planning joint promotional activities in Hong Kong and Australia with neighboring cities and counties.
