A man in his 60s from Ulsan gifted new life to three people through organ donation and passed away peacefully.

On the 17th, Ulsan University Hospital announced that a 62-year-old man, Mr. A, donated his liver and left and right kidneys through brain-dead organ donation at Ulsan University Hospital on the 15th, saving the lives of three transplant recipients waiting in Ulsan, Seoul, and Busan. Mr. A was transferred to Ulsan University Hospital after being diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage at a secondary hospital on the 8th due to a headache, but ultimately did not regain consciousness and fell into a brain-dead state.
His family said they agreed to the donation after hearing from medical staff that although there was no chance of recovery for Mr. A, organ donation could save someone’s life. Furthermore, Mr. A had said whenever he saw news about organ donation during his lifetime, "If something like that happens to me, I would donate without hesitation." It is also known that Mr. A had applied for the "Organ Donation Hope Registration" in 2003.
Personal details such as Mr. A’s occupation and face have not been disclosed at the request of the bereaved family. The family stated, "We believe that rather than our beloved family member disappearing as a handful of ashes, saving someone’s life and living on somewhere is what Mr. A would have wanted."
