President Yoon Suk-yeol marked the first anniversary of the 'Seoi Elementary School Teacher Incident' on the 18th, stating, "Upholding teachers' authority is the most fundamental foundation for raising our children properly," and added, "I will take greater care to ensure that the teacher authority protection system is firmly established in the field."
On the same day, President Yoon wrote on Facebook, "One year ago today, a teacher who stood at the podium with hopeful dreams sadly left us. It still pains my heart deeply," and said, "I sincerely pray for the teacher's repose and extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family and teachers in the field."
He continued, "Last summer, many teachers and citizens took to the streets every weekend, calling for the restoration of teachers' authority and normalization of education," reflecting, "I felt a heavy sense of responsibility."
President Yoon explained, "By listening to the earnest voices of teachers, we revised the five laws protecting teachers' authority and established a systematic protection system, bringing about positive changes in the field," adding, "Strict measures are being taken against violations of teacher authority, and the prosecution rate of teachers is also decreasing."
In conclusion, he emphasized, "Together with the teachers, I will take greater care to ensure that the teacher authority protection system is firmly established in the field," and stated, "We will create a proper educational environment where teachers, students, and parents are all happy."
