Songpa-gu, 1.3 Billion Won Resident Participatory Budget... Online Voting for Citizen Proposal Projects

Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) operates the 'Resident Participatory Budgeting System' to guarantee residents' opportunities to participate in district administration and to enhance the transparency and public nature of financial management. Accordingly, it announced that an online vote for the 'Resident Participatory Budget Proposal Projects' will be held until the 31st of this month.

The 2025 Songpa-gu resident participatory budget amounts to a total of 1.3 billion KRW, divided into three sectors: ▲General projects 500 million KRW ▲Major protection target projects for socially vulnerable groups such as the elderly and disabled 400 million KRW ▲Dong (neighborhood) projects addressing local issues 400 million KRW.

Residents directly propose projects by sector, and through online and offline opinion gathering, projects with high preference will be reflected in the 2025 budget.

A total of 100 resident-proposed projects have been received so far. After review through neighborhood meetings and on-site inspections, and deliberation by the subcommittee, 69 projects judged appropriate (▲General projects 34 ▲Major protection target projects 15 ▲Dong projects 20) will be subject to online voting.

Anyone in the district can participate in the online voting on the Seoul M-Voting platform until July 31.

The final projects to be reflected in the Songpa-gu main budget will be prioritized by combining the online voting results and the subcommittee's deliberation results in order of highest scores, and the final decision on inclusion will be made through the resolution of the Resident Participatory Budget Committee on August 7.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “The Resident Participatory Budgeting System is a meaningful project that allows residents to directly participate in the budgeting process to discover and solve local issues,” and added, “We ask for active voting so that projects desired by many residents can be reflected in the budget.”
